Neither one is better (or worse) than the other. Also, there are many that straddle the middle ground. In fact, it is unlikely that there is a single rider who falls 100% into either category.<\/p>\n<p>After a night ride and a few beers around the fire, a group of our<i> cycling<\/i> and <i>riding<\/i> mates came up with this sometimes fun and sometimes serious list. The idea now is for you to have some fun working out whether you\u2019re a CYCLIST or a RIDER by selecting the statement that most applies to you. You MUST make a choice \u2013 A or B.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My weapon of choice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Lightweight XC hard tail\/full suspension MTB<br \/>\nB. Trail\/Enduro full suspension MTB<\/p>\n<p><strong>Style:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Shave my legs<br \/>\nB. Grow facial hair<\/p>\n<p>A. Bib shorts\/lycra<br \/>\nB. Baggies\/shorts<\/p>\n<p>A. No Peak<br \/>\nB. Peak<\/p>\n<p>A. Leg warmers<br \/>\nB. Knee pads<\/p>\n<p>A. Short-finger gloves<br \/>\nB. Long-finger gloves<\/p>\n<p>A. Wear my fitness watch as a daily timepiece<br \/>\nB. Wear a real watch<\/p>\n<p><strong>Events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Argus is a race<br \/>\nB. Argus is a newspaper<\/p>\n<p>A. Stage and marathon races<br \/>\nB. Anything with lots of single track<\/p>\n<p>A. Goal: fast time<br \/>\nB. Goal: fun time<\/p>\n<p><strong>Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. stem<br \/>\nB. Short stem<\/p>\n<p>A. Bar ends<br \/>\nB. Wide handlebar<\/p>\n<p>A. Carbon seat post<br \/>\nB. Dropper seat post<\/p>\n<p>A. Anything carbon<br \/>\nB. As long as it works<\/p>\n<p>A. Bottles<br \/>\nB. Hydration pack<\/p>\n<p>A. Second bike is a road bike<br \/>\nB. Second bike is another MTB<\/p>\n<p>A. Lightweight saddle<br \/>\nB. Comfortable saddle<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recording my ride:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. GPS<br \/>\nB. Strava<\/p>\n<p><strong>After my MTB ride\/race:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Drink a recovery drink<br \/>\nB. Swig a beer!<\/p>\n<p>A. Remain in my cycling clothes<br \/>\nB. Strip naked next to my car and put on my casuals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Training:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Intervals and distance<br \/>\nB. Technical skills<\/p>\n<p>A. Time trials<br \/>\nB. Trail time!<\/p>\n<p>A. Crack of dawn<br \/>\nB. Whenever, but seldom early<\/p>\n<p><strong>When it rains:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Indoor trainer or gym session<br \/>\nB. Get wet and dirty<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tyre choice:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Lightweight &amp; Low rolling resistance<br \/>\nB. Wide &amp; knobby<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bike fit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. Professional set up for maximum performance<br \/>\nB. Do it myself for my riding style<\/p>\n<p><strong>The next bike I buy is\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. For my spouse or girl\/boyfriend<br \/>\nB. Another bike for myself<\/p>\n<p><strong>My favourite question at the bike shop\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. How much does it weigh?<br \/>\nB. How much travel does it have?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred bike rack:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. On the roof of my vehicle<br \/>\nB. Tow-bar carrier<\/p>\n<p><strong>My bike sleeps\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. In the garage\/storeroom<br \/>\nB. In the lounge\/TV room<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Xmas I want\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A. A power meter<br \/>\nB. A GoPro Hero 3<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Now that you\u2019re finished give yourself 3 points for each A-choice and give yourself 1 point for each B-choice, and add up your total points<\/h3>\n<p><b>46 points or less<\/b> means you are a cool <i>rider<\/i> out there looking for fun\u2026 but be careful not to be too-cool-for-school.<\/p>\n<p><b>47 to 64 points<\/b> means you are a <i>cyclist<\/i> at heart but a few style changes and you could be on your way to being a <i>rider <\/i>or a <i>racing snake<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>65 points or more<\/b> means you are a committed <i>racing snake <\/i>looking for results.
